7 Movies We Are Looking Forward to Being Released in June 2018

The American summer is when they bring out the big blockbusters, the must-see films, and this year doesn’t disappoint we have Incredibles and Jurassic World sequels, teen movies, action movies and of course a few romcoms. A great mix.

Here are the seven we are most excited for:

1. Incredibles 2 15 June 2018

The nostalgic choice follows up from where The Incredibles ends, as the Parr family tries to live an ordinary life while Elastigal/Helen continues to fight crime while Bob/Mr. Incredible stays at home, taking care of the children. That is until a new foe, by the name of Screenslaver emerges. Starring Holly Hunter, Craig T. Nelson, Samuel L. Jackson, Catherine Keener and Sophia Bush.

2. Love, Simon – 29 June 2018

From the creators of The Fault in the Stars, Love, Simon tells the story of Simon Spier, a closeted gay teenager who is trying to find himself and sort through this sexuality and identity while someone is trying to blackmail him by threatening to out him. Also there is the fact that he is trying to find the identity of his anonymous classmate that he has fallen in love with online. Starring Nick Robinson, Jennifer Garner, Josh Duhamel, Katherine Langford and Alexandra Shipp.

3. Book Club – 29 June 2018

The story of four friends (Diane, Vivian, Sharon and Carol) whose lives change when their book club decides to read the infamous ‘50 Shades of Grey’ and they are forced to make some difficult and questionable choices. Starring Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen, Mary Steenburgen and Andy Garcia.

4. Nommer 37 – 1 June 2018

The South African film that is making waves overseas is set in the fictional New Haven, a fictional suburb of the Cape Flats. Randal Hendricks, a petty criminal who has recently been paralysed, is given a set of binoculars by his girlfriend. Through the binoculars he witnesses a murder by a powerful gangster and gets into a dangerous blackmail scheme which could put him in mortal danger. Starring Irshaad Ally, Ephram Gordon, Monique Rockman, David Manuel and Danny Ross.

5. Oceans 8 – 22 June 2018

My personal favourite, Oceans 8, has the all-female spinoff featuring Danny Ocean’s sister Debbie and seven other women try and pull of a heist at the Met Gala, using everyone’s skills in order to steal a necklace worth $150 million. Starring Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Rihanna, Helena Bonham-Carter and Awkwafina.

6. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom 8 June 2018

Set four years after Jurassic World, Isla Nublar has the surviving dinosaurs attempting to fend for themselves. Owen and Claire join together to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from being extinct. Their campaign unveils a conspiracy which could mean the end of the world as we know it. Starring Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jeff Goldblum, James Cromwell and Toby Jones.

7. Overboard – 1 June 2018

In a remake of the classic film, Kate is a single, working-class mother of three who works as a cleaner for a spoilt Mexican playback, Leonardo. After Leonardo falls off his boat and has amnesia, Kate pretends to be his wife and he has to get used to manual labour and having an entirely new family. Starring Anna Faris, Eugenio Derbez, Eva Longoria, John Hannah and Swoosie Kurtz.
