We’ve been hearing about this Zac Efron Ted Bundy movie for so long, it feels so strange that it’s almost time for it to be released.
In Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, the life of Ted Bundy (Zac Efron) is seen through the eyes of his long-term girlfriend, Liz Kloepfer (Lily Collins) who refused to believe the truth about him for years. The film also stars Jim Parsons as Florida prosecutor Larry Simpson.
It is based on the novel The Phantom Prince: My Life with Ted Bundy by Elizabeth Kendall. It explores the phenomenon of someone who believes that their lover is innocence despite the evidence to the contrary.
“By approaching the story from Ted’s long-time lover’s perspective, we are able to examine how a guilty man might present himself to the world and to experience the emotional toll on those who thought that they knew him best,” the director Joe Berlinger said.
The movie premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and Efron was praised for his portrayal of the infamous American serial killer.
Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile will be released in SA cinemas on 3 May 2019.
