As a fan of comic books, movies, books and generally all things nerdy, FanCon, a comic convention that takes place every year in Cape Town is one of my highlights.
FanCon Cape Town Comic Con, established in 2016, is South Africa’s first dedicated comic convention, and the first convention to bring comic book creators and cosplay artists of international renown to our shores.
The third annual FanCon returns for a fun-filled fan experience over the weekend of 28-29 April 2018 at the CTICC, in the new wing called CTICC 2, and with an expanded exhibition floor space jam-packed with pop culture and geek related exhibitors, activities, panel talks, stage events, and featured local and international guests.
Guests at the 2018 event includes international comic book artists – Declan Shalvey, Yanick Paquette, Ken Lashley, Laura Braga, and Ulysse Malassagne; international cosplay artist, Riki (Riddle) Lecotey; Zapiro, famed South African cartoonist; Kinpatsu Cosplay, the top SA cosplay artist; the team behind the South African comic sensation Kwezi.
With numerous stands and stores, panels, artists, quizzes, this a convention that know pop culture fan would want to miss.
